Abstract
Objective To explore the relationship between apolipoprotein E(apoE) gene polymorphism and cerebral infarction of the Han nationality in Northeast China. Methods A total of 140 subjects were selected, among them 72 were patients with cerebral infarction(CI group),68 were healthy subjects or hospitalized patients with anorectal diseases(control group).apoE polymorphisms of all patients were detected by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP).The plasma lipid levels in 70 patients with cerebral infarction were detected by one-step method.(Results)apoE e_3e_3 genotype was most common both in the control group and the CI group, they were 67.6% and 72.2% respectively(P0.05).No e_4e_4 was found. There were no significant differences(P0.05) between groups in genotypic frequencies of e_2e_2,e_2e_3,e_2e_4,and e_3e_4(2.9%,13.2%,0%,and 16.2% in the control group;2.8%,15.3%,2.8%,and 6.9% in the CI group) and allele frequencies of e_2,e_3,and e_4(9.6%,82.4%,and 8.1% in the control group;11.8%,83.3%,and 4.9% in the CI group). There were no significant differences between the levels of plasma total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol(HDL-C) and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol(LDL-C) in different genotypes in patients with CI(P0.05).(Conclusion) No relationship has been found between apoE polymorphisms and CI,and no relationships have been found either between apoE gene polymorphism and the plasma TC,TG,HDL-C1,and LDL-C in patients with CI in the Han nationality in Northeast China.
