Abstract

Objective To investigate the Apolipoprotein E(ApoE) gene polymorphism in Naxi patients with cerebral infarction(CI) in Yunnan. Methods Gene sequencing was used to detect the polymorphisms of ApoE gene in 58 CI patients(CI group) and 50 healthy controls(normal control group) of Naxi nationality from Yunnan Province. The genotypes and allele frequencies were compared between the two groups. Results The frequency of genotype e3/e4 in CI group was significantly higher and the frequency of genotype e3/e3 in CI group was significantly lower than those in the normal control group(all P0.05).The frequency of e4 in CI group was significantly higher and the frequency of e3 in CI group was significantly lower than those in the normal control group(all P0.05).The correlation analysis showed that the e3/e3 genotype and the e3 allele were the protective factors for CI(OR=0.346,95%CI: 0.176-0.681,P=0.020;OR=0.412,95%CI: 0.227-0.749,P=0.004),while the e3/e4 genotype and the e4 allele were the susceptive factors for CI(OR=3.818,95%CI: 1.509-9.665,P=0.005;OR=3.502,95%CI: 1.524-8.047,P=0.003).Conclusion The e3/e4 genotype and the e4 allele are the genetic susceptibility factor for CI in Naxi nationality from Yunnan Province.
