The Construction of Mass Culture in the Social Transition Period:the Reconstruction of Popular Culture and Art

In the period of social transition,the forms of mass culture and art have deeply changed and a situation of coexisting diversified forms of mass culture and art has been formed: there are traditional forms of culture and art,i.e.,traditional folk culture and art,there are new forms,i.e.,the forms of mass culture and art conforming to the conditions of market economy,and there are also forms of the mainstream value,i.e.,the forms of leading culture and art representing the development orientation of advanced culture.The construction of mass culture at the present faces problems such as separation and unbalanced development of the three forms,disjointing of the work of mass culture from the mass culture,the decline of mass cultural activities,and so forth.Therefore,the reconstruction of popular culture and art should be performed through integration of spaces and contents of culture,urban and rural culture,and culture of different ethnic groups according to the requirements of vigorous development and enrichment of culture and the actual situation of the people's changing life style,so as to realize the transformation and prosperity of mass culture.
