Abstract
Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety between the Esophageal covered stent placement and expansion therapy on the cases with esophageal malignant stricture. Method: 68 patients with malignant esophageal stenosis were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group, each group had 34 cases. The control groups were implanted with Salmonella dilating bougie while the observation groups were implanted with nickel titanium memory alloy esophageal stent. The placement success rate, efficacy, the improvement of obstruction, the quality of life and complication after operation between two groups were compared. Results: The effective rate and total effective in the observation group reached 82.36% and94.12%respectively,significantly higher than that of the control group( P 0.05). The QOL quality of life score in the observation groups after treatment was( 42.30 ± 6.52) points, significantly higher than that of the preoperative and postoperative scores of the control groups( P 0.05).The total the complication rate ofthe observation group was 8.82%,significantly lower than that of the control group( P0.05) and restenosis rate was only 5.88%,significantly lower than that of the control( P 0.05). Conclusion: The Esophageal covered stent placement implanted on the esophageal malignant stricture had high success rate, with high quality of life and fewer complications, the curative effect was significantly better than the Sand's expansion bougienage.
