Abstract

Objective To compare the curative effects and side effects of aripiprazole and clozapine on schizophrenia. Methods 78 schizophrenics were randomly divided into aripiprazole and clozapine groups. The therapeutic effects and side effects were assessed with the Positive And Negative Symptom Scale(PANSS) and Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale(TESS) before and at the end of 2nd,4th and 8th week of treatment respectively. Results There was no significant difference in curative effect and PANSS between two groups, but there were significant differences before and after inpatient treatment.Aripiprazole group had fewer side effect than clozapine group. Conclusion Aripiprazole and clozapine are effective in the treatment of schizophrenia.Aripiprazole has fewer side effects.
