Abstract
In this research, the leaves from 32 cultivars or populations of Ginkgo biloba were used to extract genotic DNAs.8 primers and 4 pairs of primer were selected from 56 random primers for RAPD amplification. The RAPD amplificates separated on agarose gel were used to study genetic diversity. And dendrogram of the 32 samples was constructed by UPGMA method.Of 85 clear RAPD bands detected, and its size distribution amout 300~2500bp. 81 were polymorphic with 95% overall polymorphism.UPGMA clustered the 32 cultivars or populations into 2 groups: Group I containing Beijing-meihe,Nanxiong-shangxi,Huakou-dabaiguo and group II including the others.Taixing No.2 and Taixing No.3 have 0.97 average similarities, showing that they were lowest in genetic diversity and possible to be similar cultivar. And cultivars or populations from Guangdong Province might originate differently. The results suggested that boundary of different variety group based on 'Comprehensive Classification' would be uncertain with mutual overlapping of cultivars from different groups.
