Abstract

Objective To investigate the protective effect of Gandean against experimental liver injury. Methods Sixty mice were randomly divided into six groups(n=10):normal control group, model control group, positive control group and three treatment groups with Gandean 6,3,1.5 g/kg.The activities of serum alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspar tate aminotransferase(AST)and the activity of liver superoxide dismutase(SOD),malondialdehyde(MDA)were determined in injured liver induced by carbon tetrachl-oride(CCl4),D-Galactosamine(D-Gal),alcohol or acetaminophen(AP),and the pathological change of liver tissue was observed. Results The activities of ALT,AST in serum and the content of liver MDA were significantly lowered, and the activity of liver SOD was increased obviously in liver induced by CCl4,D-Gal,alcohol or AP after Gandean was given orally.Histological results displayed that Gandean improved liver injury. Conclusion Gandean has protective effect against experimental liver injury.
