Inhibitive effects of resveratrol on alcohol liver injury in mice

Abstract

Objective To investigate the inhibitive effects of resveratrol on alcohol liver injury in mice and research the possible mechanism. Methods The rats were randomLy divided into 5 groups,including normal control group,alcohol- induced hapatic injuried model group,Res 0. 08 g / kg group,Res 0. 04g / kg group and Res 0. 02 g / kg group. The hepatic injuried model was imitated by 55% ethanol. Res was administrated continuously for 10 days. Detection index: The mice general state,determination of body weight,liver weight and liver index; Serum alanine aminotransferase( ALT),aspartate aminotransferase( AST) activity; liver tissue malondialdehyde( MDA) content and superoxide dismutase( SOD) activity; pathological changes in liver tissue in mice. Results Compared with the normal control group,the concentrations of mice' weight,liver determination and SOD were significantly reduced and ALT,AST,MDA were significantly increased in the model group. Meantime,in the Res group,the level of weight,liver determination and SOD were increased and ALT,AST,MDA were reduced,compared with model group,furthermore,into a clear dose-effect relationship. Model mice liver cells was ballooning degeneration,necrosis and marked infiltration of inflammatory cells,resveratrol can significantly improve the severity of liver cell necrosis. Conclusion Res have a certain inhibitory effect on alcohol- induced liver damage and play a protective role in liver cells,the mechanism may be related to inhibition of lipid peroxidation damage.
