An Analysis of Gastric Cancer Incidence in Zhongshan City

To explore the gastric cancer incidence and trends in Zhongshan from 1970 to 1999,and to provide scientific information for prevention and treatment.The incidence data of gastric cancer from 1970 to 1999 in Zhongshan city were collected from Zhongshan cancer registry system.The numbers of cases crude incidence,age-adjusted standard incidence were analyzed.There were 2019 new case of gastric cancer from 1970 to 1999,1310 male,and 709 female.The world-standardized incidence was 9.08/105 in male,6.62/105 in female.The incidence showed a remarkably increasing trend first,then stabilized with a little decreasing tendency during the period.[Conclusions]The gastric cancer incidence did not show obviously decreasing trends,although the incidence was lower in Zhongshan from 1970 to 1999.It is suggested that prevention should be strengthened.
