Analysis on Incidence of Gastric Cancer in Zhongshan City,1970~2009

[Purpose] To explore incidence and its rules of gastric cancer in Zhongshan(1970~2009),so as to provide scientific basis for its prevention and control in Zhongshan. [Methods] Incidence data of gastric cancer in Zhongshan(1970 ~2009) which came from Zhongshan Cancer Registry were collected. New cases,crude incidence rate,age-specific rate(ASR China) and age-specific rate(ASR World) were calculated. [Results] ASR World were 11.01/105,5.00/105and 7.79/105in male,female and both gender respectively. Incidence increased at first and remained a trend of relative stable later during the whole period(P0.05).Incidence of gastric cardia cancer had witnessed an increasing trend in male and both genders during 1988~2009(P0.05). Incidence of gastric cancer in male was 2.2 of female, and age-specific incidence differed somewhat between male and female. Age-specific incidence patterns at different periods were basically identical in Zhongshan during 1970 ~2009. [Conclusions] Incidence of gastric cancer in Zhongshan(1970 ~2009) is at a low level nationwide and remained relatively stable. Control and prevention of gastric cardia cancer should be enhanced.
