Abstract

Objective To study the influence of malondialdehyde(MDA)and superoxide dismutase(SOD)of edaravone on patients with intracranial hemorrhage(ICH).Methods Within an open trial design,100 subjects with ICH received either 60~30 mg(52 subjects)of edaravone via intravenous drip or routine treatment(47 subjects).17 days of adminis- tration was follomed by a 30-day observation period and the effects of MDA and SOD was evaluated on the 30th day be- tween serum concentrations of MDA ,SOD were detected by venous blood sampling was taken before treatment and on the 4th,7th,14th,21th,28th day after treatment.Results The serum MDA level was raised before treatment and was de- creased on the 4th,7th,14th,21 th,28th day after treatment(P0.01),and the concentration of SOD was decreased or raised respectively(P0.01).It was P0.01 as comparing with control.Conclusion Data from the present study sug- gest that edaravone is safe and may reduce the disablement rate of ICH by reducing MDA level and increasing the concen- tration of SOD,edaravone can protect the cerebral cells by clearing free radical.
