Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical significance of serum cystatin C(Cys C)in renal impaired disease. Methods The density of serum Cys C,creatinine, urea and glomerular filtration rate(GFR)were detected respectively in 170 patients with renal insufficiency and 120 patients with renal failure and 50 healthy persons using immunoterbidimetric method. Results The value of serum Cys C in control group and kidney function impared group and renal failure group were(0.79±0.26)mg/L,(2.62±1.41)mg/L and(5.71±1.81)mg/L respectively(P0.01).Compared with the value of serum cystatin C and creatinine on the evaluation of glomerular filtration rate, the abnormal rate of Cys C in control group and kidney function impared group were 25% and 80%(P0.01),similarly,the abnormal rate of Scr were 7% and 43%(P0.01) respectively. Conclusion The level of Cys C is a feasible and sensitive indicator, which can reflect early renal damage.
