Abstract

Objective: To explore the expression of VEGF and Maspin protein in breast cancer tissues. Methods: We examined the expression of the level of VEGF and Maspin expression in breast cancer tissues and adjacent breast normal tissues by immunohistochemistry. Results:The expression rate of VEGF was 91.1%(82/90)in breast carcinoma tissues, but 44.4%(40/90)in normal tissues;as for Maspin, the case was to contrary, the expression rate of Maspin protein was 68.9%(62/90)in breast carcinoma tissues, and 100%(90/90)in normal tissues. There was correlation between the expression of these two proteins. The expression of VEGF was related to TNM stage and lymph node metastasis of breast carcinoma(P0.01),there was a close relation between the expression of Maspin and histology type, histology grade and lymph node metastasis of breast carcinoma(P0.05).Conclusion:These results demonstrate that examination of expression of VEGF and Maspin at the same time might be beneficial in judging biological behavior and prognosis of breast carcinoma.
