Relationship between G894T Polymorphism of Endothelial Nitric Oxide Synthesis Gene and Essential Hypertension in Han Ethnicity of Ningxia

Abstract

Objective To investigate the association between the polymorphism of endothelial nitric oxide synthesis gene G894T and essential hypertension(EH)in Han ethnicity in Ningxia Province,China.Methods The genomic DNA were extracted from the peripheral blood samples of 336 persons in Ningxia.Polymerase chain reaction(PCR) and restriction fragment length polymorphism(RFLP) methods were used to detect the G894T polymorphism of eNOS gene in Han ethnicity including 160 patients with EH and 176 normal controls.The frequencies of genotype distribution in EH and normal groups were analyzed.Results The distribution genotype frequencies of GG,GT and TT were 0.8625,0.13125 and 0.00625 in hypertension groups,and those in normal groups were 0.875,0.113636 and 0.011364,respectively,which showed no significant difference(P0.05);The allelic frequencies of G and T were 0.928125,0.071875 respectively in hypertension group and 0.931818,0.068182 in normal group.The allele frequencies of G/T were no significant differences to above data in two groups(P0.05).Conclusion It may not be association between the G894T polymorphism of eNOS gene and essential hypertension in Han ethnicity of Ningxia.
