Abstract

Objective To investigate the significance of platelet(PLT) changes in children with severe pneumonia. Methods Changes of PLT count were detected in 41 children with severe pneumonia(group A),102 with general pneumonia(group B).Results PLT count in group A was significantly higher than groupB(P=0.004) in acute stage.PLT count in acute stage was significantly higher than that of convalescence in group A(P=0.000).PLT count was not significantly between group A and group B in convalescence. Conclusion Detection of platelet is helpful in evaluating the severity of pneumonia.
