Religious Feelings and Humanist Rationality——Discussion on Xu Dishan's Concept of Confucianism

Xu Dishan is one of the scholars who gave a macro-scanning of Confucian and Confucianism in modern sense in advance early in the initial stage of 20th century.According to Xu Dishan,the origin of Confucian should not only be located in priest of Shang Dynasty,but also date from the hoarier prehistoric times.The name of Confucian had evolved into one kind of special doctrine gradually since Confucius.However,the establishment of Confucianism's orthodox status and the formation of theologized Confucianism also had their own situations and objective reasons;the Confucianism forethical education movementwas more reasonable than the Confucianism fortheological education.Therefore,if Confucianism want to be anew religionsin the future,it must hassocial soul,which can grasp the root of life and seek tohigher level communication;if the modern Confucian candevote to Religious Communicationand systemize the Confucianism's old doctrine with the spirit of Song Confucian,it can makes the Confucianism become anoble religion.Xu Dishan's concept of Confucianism is a concentrated reflection of spirits of religious feelings and humanity rationality.The concept also has an important enlightening significance to the modern development of Confucianism.
