Abstract
Objective: To explore the relationship between meridian of Foot-Yangming and stomach by observing the influence of acupuncture of Foot-Yangming meridian points on the gastric movement before and after gastric mucosa damage in the rabbits. Methods: Forty large ear rabbits were perfused with pure ethanol to make models of gastric mucosa damage. The influence of acupuncture on the function of the gastric movement before and after gastric mucosa damage was observed. Results: Before and after development of model of gastric mucosa damage, there was significant difference in amplitude index percentage of the gastric movement.Compared:with that before development of the model, the amplitude index after development of the model was lowered remarkably (P 0.01). Acupuncture of Sibai (ST.2) and Zusanli (ST.36), could reinforce gastric movement. The amplitude index of gastric movement was remarkably increased after acupuncture as compared with that before acupuncture (P 0.01). The effect of Sibai (ST.2) was most remarkable and after gastric mucosa damage acupuncture of Sibai (ST.2) could strengthen gastric movement. Conclusion: After gastric mucosa damage the amplitude index of gastric movement was remarkably lowered and acupuncture of Foot-Yangming meridian points could increase index of gastric movement, indicating that meridian of Foot-Yangming and stomach have a interrelationship.
