Abstract
Sixteen varieties of melon seedlings were studied under high temperature stress in terms of growth and development, physiological characteristics and chlorophyll content. The results showed that under high temperature stress the growth of all the seedlings was affected in varying degrees, and the chlorophyll content decreased, but that of the seedlings with high heat tolerance decreased less; Compared with CK,all the seedlings basically had an upward trend in superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity and proline content after high temperature treatment, and the seedlings with poor heat tolerance decreased in peroxidase(POD) activity and soluble protein. The comparative analysis of heat tolerance indicated that two of the tested 16 varieties were high, four came second, seven were medium, and three were low(or heat-sensitive).
