Abstract
Physiological characteristics of eggplant seedlings were researched at 5℃ and 8℃ in order to understand eggplant physiological mechanism under low temperature condition in the present study.The results showed that superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity increased with temperature dropping,which was highest when at 5℃.Peroxidase(POD)activity was greatly boosted.It increased 292% and 113% comparing to control at 5℃ and 8℃,respectively.The differences were extremely significant;catalase(CAT)activity dropped,then decrease with temperature falling;malondialdehyde(MDA) content increased 24.94% and 30.22% compared to that of control at 5℃ and 8℃,respectively;with temperature falling,contents of proline and soluble protein increased.
