Study on the relationship between the levels of serum lipids and blood glucose among middle-aged and aged people in Tangshan rural areas

Objective To study the relationship between the levels of serum lipids and blood glucose(BG) among the middle-aged and aged people at the rural area,in Tangshan rural areas.Methods A total of 4,350 subjects including the rural middle-aged and aged people who attended the health education and medical check-up,were selected and the levels of total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),blood glucose(BG) were detected.At the same time,the relationship between serum lipids and blood glucose were compared.Results With the elevated lipid levels,BG levels and a high BG levels detection rate tended to increase.The levels of serum lipids and high serum lipids detection rate tended to increase higher in high levels of BG group than in the normal one.There is no statistically significant difference between male and female.Conclusion There is a close relationship between serum lipid abnormalities and elevated BG among the middle-aged and aged people in Tangshan rural areas,and there is no statistically significant difference between male and female.
