Empirical Research on the Relationship between the Layer Structures of Higher Education and Economic Development

The development of higher education should meet the objective needs of economic and social development,must also follow the basic rules of self-development.1998-2007 is the key decade for the rapid development of higher education in China.The scale has expanded and the internal structure has been adjusted continuously,triggering profound changes in higher education.Study on the structural changes in higher education in China 1998-2007,and its relationship with economic development,selected 6 indicators that reflect the structures of higher education and 8 indicators that reflect the level of economic development and structure separately,explored the relationship between the layer structure of higher education and the economic development with correlation,principal component and regression analysis,as well as the impact mechanism based on the in-depth analysis in the overall level of development and changes of China's higher education in 1998-2007.Studies have shown that the overall size of China's higher education is ever-expanding,but the expansion extent of different layer structures is not the same.Economic development has significant influence on the development of China's higher education hierarchy.Higher education adapt to the needs of economic developments basically.
