Abstract

Mr.LI Jin-xi is a famous linguist in China,and hisNew Chinese Grammar published in 1942 is considered as the first book in modern Chinese grammar.The sequences of reasoning and literature,discussed in this book,were valuable in the times when structural grammar had not appeared.On the basis of rhetoric pragmatics,the present paper is an attempt to interpretNew Chinese Grammar,in the hope of a further communication with other researchers.
