Abstract
Pulsed Field Gel Electrophoresis(PFGE) is a new technique of gel electrophoresis developed in 1980's.It can be used to separate large DNA molecules ranging from 10 kb to 10 Mb.It has been widely applied to the bacterial molecular typing,identification of species groups and genetic analysis,etc.The technology and application of PFGE and the current status of molecular typing of salmonella were introduced in this article,and its application in epidemiological study of salmonella and development prospects were discussed.
