Abstract

Purpose To investigate antibiotic resistance of Streptococcus pneumoniae of clinical isolates in Nanjing. Methods A total of 324 strains Streptococcus pneumoniae were collected from different kinds of patients in Nanjing Children′s Hospital during January 2007 to June 2008.The K-B method was used to determine the susceptibility.MIC was determined by E-test.Results Total 324 strains of Streptococcus pneumoniae strains were determined for the susceptibilities to antibiotics,The resistance rates of Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid,Vamowycin,Azithromycin,Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole,Meropenem,Ampicillin,Penicillin,Ceftriaxone,Ofloxacin,Cefaclor,Chloramphenicol,Erythromycin were 17.90%,3.09%,96.91%,70.37%,0.62%,25.31%,94.75%,10.19%,14.20%,53.09%,3.70%,and 95.37% respectively. Conclusion The resistant rates of Streptococcus pneumoniae to Penicillin,Azithromycin,Erythromycin are very high and serious in Nanjing area.
