Aesthetic Education: a Tradition of Peking University

Cai Yuanpei was the first person to practice aesthetic education in the history of modern education in China. He believed that art education was an important part of aesthetic education. He managed to initiate music education in Peking University when he served as its president. He created a system of music education which embraced both Chinese and European cultures. He emphasized the development of music aesthetic education from the perspectives of science and art, aesthetics. His aesthetic ideology was so influential that it forms a tradition of education in Peking University.
