Abstract

Objective:To investigate the clinicopatholgic and ultrastructural of gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GISTs)in stomach. Methods:In addition to light and electron microscopic observations, immunohistochemical assays of CD34,CD117,SMA,S100 and CKp were used. Results:In 37 cases, there were 12 benign cases and 25 malignant GISTs of stomach. The GISTS of stomach showed spindle cell type in most specimens.CD117 and CD34 were positive in most cases.Electron microscopic observation of GISTs showed no specific differentiation. Conclusion:The symptoms of GISTS in stomach were similar to those of stomach carcinoma.Pathologic features are different between benign and malignant GISTS of stomach. The results showed that undifferentiation type constitutes the largest category in GISTs of stomach.
