Abstract

Objective To investigate the resistance of Staphylococcus aureus isolated from hospital, carriage of Panton valentine leukocidin(PVL)in 41 Staphylococcus aureus isolates. Methods Cefoxitin disk diffusion test was used to detect MRSA.According to CLSI-2011 guideline, the antibiotics sensitivity of 41 clinical isolates was performed with Kirby-Bauer method,PVL and mecA gene were detected by PCR.Results 21 strains of MRSA were detected from 41 S.aureus strains, the detection rate 51.2%.The MRSA showed significantly higher resistance to clindamycin, erythromycin, aminoglycosides and quinolones than methicillin susceptible S.aureus(MSSA).90.5% MRSA and 95% MSSA strains were susceptible to Cotrimoxazole. No staphylacoccal strains were found resistant to vancomycin, teicoplanin and linezolid.mecA gene of 21 MRSA strains were positive,2 of 41 S.aureus strains carried PVL gene, which were isolated from the orthopedic ward. Conclusions MRSA is highly resistant to many antibiotics. It is essential to make reasonable use of antibiotics in order to control MRSA infections, enhance the detection of the PVL gene to prevent the spread of such strains.
