Abstract
The colour reactions of N-cetylpyridiniu bromine(CPB)and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTMAB)with 4,4′-bis[3-(4-phenylthiazol-2-yl)triazenyl]biphenyl(BPTTBP)have been studied. The results showed that,in the medium of NaOH solution,CPB or CTMAB reacted with BPTTBP to form purple ion pair complex with the mole ratio 1∶1respectively.The maximum absorption of two complexes was 607nm with molar absorption coefficients of 2.46×104 L·mol-1·cm-1 and 1.82×104 L·mol-1· cm-1 accordingly.Beer’s law was obeyed for CPB and CTMAB in the concentration range of 0~1.0× 10-5 mol·L-1.The method was applied in the determination of CPB and CTMAB in waste water sample.
