Clinical controlled observation of treatment of senile chronic functional constipation with macrogol 4000 and edestan

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of macrogol 4000(forlax powder) on treatment of senile chronic functional constipation controlled with edestan pills.Methods 76 male patients with senile chronic functional constipation were randomly divided into treatment group(39 cases)and control group(37 cases),which were treated with Forlax powder and Edestan Pills for 4 weeks respectively.The clinical efficacy and adverse effects were observed.Results The stool frequency of both groups was significant increased.The efficacy of the treatment group was better than that of the control group(P0.05) Conclusion Forlax powder is better than Edestan Pills regarding the efficacy of treating senile chronic functional constipation.Forlax powder with satisfactory efficacy, is safe and well tolerated.
