Abstract
The grafting of acrylic acid onto corn starch by 60Co radiation as initiator was studied. The graft-copolymerization reaction mechanism and morphology of the copolymer were also investigated using FTIR scanning electron microscopy. The effects of the stuff-proportion,radiation does,starch pasting,acrylic acid neutralization,radiation does-rate on the graft copolymerization reaction and absorption capacity of high water were investigated. Starch with acrylic acid graft copolymerization of the best reaction conditions were as follows:the ratio of raw materials m(AA)∶m(starch) for 3,irradiation dose 4KGy,degree of monomer was 80%,dose rate of 40Gy and starch gelatinization temperature of 80℃ could be ideal.
