Abstract

Objective To investigate the effects of propofol or propofol combined with fentanyl during artificial abortion period. Methods 190 early pregnant women who were scheduled for pregnancy termination were divided into 2 groups: group A (propofol, n=70) and group B (propofol and fentanyl, n=120). All patients were induced with intravenous propofol (2mg.kg -1 ) , then maintained with bolus of propofol (0.5mg.kg -1 ) to provide anesthesia during artificial abortion. Before induction intravenous fentanyl (0.05~0.1mg ) were used in group B. Results Patients in group A had more dosage of propofol of induction and bolus and had longer recovery procedure than that in group B. But changes in circulatory and respiratory system have no significant differences between these two groups. Conclusion Combination of propofol and fentanyl during artificial abortion can decrease propofol dosage, reduce cost, more rapid recovery, more satisfied anesthesia.
