On the Modernity of Ancient Chinese Literary Theories

The study of modernity in ancient Chinese literary theories should take the global academic perspective and the Western literary theories into serious consideration because they are supplementary to each other.This study should attach importance to the modern value of ancient Chinese literary theories while respecting the history and trying to bring about a dialogue between the ancient Chinese literary theories and the contemporary literary practice.The ancient Chinese literary theories are not only a historic phenomenon but also a source of modern theories.This study should try to find out the factors of modernity in the ancient Chinese literary theories and adapt them to the contemporary requirements of disciplinary norms.Methodologically,this study should take the modern category,system and criticism into consideration and put itself in the domain of the world literary criticism.
