Abstract Lyricism——On Shen Cong-wen’s Literature Idea

The literature idea of Shen Cong-wen pays more attention to the concept of artistic autonomy,whichin pursuit of theindividual freedomdevelopedtheliterature virtue andlife re-creationasthe creation of lit-erary canon along with the cultural mission behind it.The content then presents itself to abstract lyricismandthe literary practice that proceeds fromthe abstract lyricism.This principle of literary autonomy is a departurefromthe function of newliterature that conveys the Dao.Therefore,the literature idea of Shen Cong-wen ac-cordingly shows the multiple contradictions,including his understanding of actual literary policy and his affirma-tion of the independent emotional revelation.Thus hisliteratureideais determinedtoinappropriate tothe occa-sion.And all of this could be regarded as the loneliness of Shen Congwen’s literature idea.
