Abstract

Yang Nanzhong was another calligrapher in Imperial College during the period when northern Song Ren Zong was in power since Zhou Yue.He served as a calligrapher from HuangYou to JiaYou.He was not only proficient in calligraphy as a famous philologist but also skilled in seal character and regular script.But he was too oblivious in history of calligraphy to be forgotten.By far,there has been no study about his birthplace,birth year and death year,his official experiences and associations,his calligraphy and calligraphy style as well as new comment on the role his calligraphy has played in history.Therefore,a thorough and deep research will become a useful supplement to the calligraphy history in Northern Song Dynasty.
