Abstract
Objective To determine the significance of Tei index and plasma B-natriuretic peptide(BNP) level in identifying systolic and diastolic heart failure(HF).Methods Thirty-two healthy individuals and sixty-seven HF patients were included.Echocardiography and neurohormonal analysis were performed. Results Compared to the control group,Tei index,BNP level were much higher in both systolic and diastolic HF patients(P0.01).Tei index and BNP level were higher in systolic HF patients than diastolic HF patients(0.63±0.11 vs 0.82±0.20)ng/L,P0.01;713.38 ng/L vs 1345.86 ng/L,P0.05).Correlation between Tei index and BNP level was significant(r=0.71,P0.01).Conclusions Tei index and BNP level are useful in differencing systolic and diastolic HF.
