Effects of Liuwei Dihuang Pill on RBP4 in Serum,Blood Glucose and Blood Lipid in Type 2 Diabetic Rats

Objective:To study the effect of Liuwei Dihuang Pill on serum RBP4,blood lipid and blood glucose in type 2 diabetic rats.Method:36 healthy male Wistar rats were randomly divided into the nomal group,the model group,group treated with Liuwei Dihuang Pill(Group C)and group treated with Pioglitazone(Group D).Method:With high fat forage diet for five weeks,rats from B,C,and D were injected small dose of streptozotocin(STZ)according to 30mg/kg to establish rats model with type 2 diabetes.Group A and Group B were administrated with normal saline.Group C was administrated with Liuwei Dihuang Pill.Group D was administrated with Pioglitazone.Orbital blood was collected to measure indicators before the model,after the model and 2,5,8 weeks after the treatment.The indicators included weight,fasting plasma glucose(FPG),fasting insulin levels(FINS),cholesterol(TC),triglycerides(TG),high-density lipoprotein(HDL-C),low density lipoprotein(LDL-C)and retinol binding protein 4(RBP4),then calculate insulin sensitivity index(ISI)and insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR).Result:8 weeks after the treatment,the levels of RBP4,FPG,TC,TG,LDL-C,Fins,HOMA-IR of group C and group D were lower than those of group B(P0.05);and the levels of weight,HDL-C and ISI of group C and group D were higher than those of group B(P0.05).According to weight,there were no significant difference among group B,C and D(P0.05)after 2 or 5 weeks of treatment.According to RBP4,there was no significant difference between group B and C after two weeks of treatment(P0.05).After 5 weeks of treatment,the level of RBP4 of group C was lower than that of group B(P0.05);there was significant difference between group B and D after both 2 and 5 weeks(P0.05).Conclusion:Long-term use of Liuwei Dihuang Pill can improve weight of type 2 diabetic rats,reduce blood glucose,blood lipid,insulin resistance and lower the level of blood RBP4.
