Abstract
Crossbred progeny of local yaks and wild yaks demonstrated the obvious hybrid vigor. The body size and weight of crossbred and domestic yaks at birth,6 mo.,18 mo.,and 28 mo.were recorded in the slaughter experiment. The results showed that the body weight and size of half—and quarter—blood yaks at birth,6 mo.,18 mo.,and 28 mo.were significantly higher than that of domestic yaks (P<0.01);the half—and quarter—blood yaks at 18 mo.and 28 mo.could produce 16.62 kg,24.70 kg, 11.45 kg,and 13.70 kg more meat than that of domestic yaks(P<0.01),respectively.
