Effect of wild blood yak on renovation of domestic yak.

To improve the production performance of yak,the growth and development traits of the yaks with 1/2 wild blood and the domestic yaks were determined and compared at the birth and the age of six months.The results showed that the withers height,body length,heart girth and body weight of the yaks with 1/4 wild blood at the birth increased 1.80 cm,3.42 cm,2.28 cm and 1.27 kg,which was improved for 3.51%,7.33%,4.12% and 11.05% than those of domestic yaks,respectively.Those parameters at age of six months increased 4.78 cm,5.10 cm,6.74 cm and 7.94 kg,which was improved 6.70%,6.90%,7.58% and 20.00% than those of domestic yaks at the same ages(P0.01),respectively.It suggested that the growth and development of the yak were improved by means of introduction of the blood of wild yaks.
