Expression of PTEN in Different Clinical Stages of Gastric Cancer

Objective To investigate the relevance between PTEN and the clinical stage of gastric cancer.So to guide the diagnosis and provide the theoretical basis of appropriate treatment and prognosis judgement.Methods Expression of PTEN was examined by immunohistochemistry(SP-method) in 108 cases of gastric cancer and the ralationship was tested by Chi-square test and Kendall 's rank correlation.Results The positive rate of the expression of PTEN was 33.3%(4/12)in those cases the cancer invaded only in mucosa and sudmucosa,30.0%(12/40)in those it invaded into muscular layer and 21.4%(12/56)in those into serous membrane,and so there was little relationship between the expression of PTEN and the invasion depth(P0.05).The positive rate was 42.8%(12/28)in those cases the cancer had transfered to less than 7 lymph nodes,26.0%(12/46)in those to 7～15 lymph nodes and 11.7%(4/34) in those to more than 15 lymph nodes.The positive rate was 30.6%(22/72)in those cases without distant transfer and 16.7%(6/36) in those with distaut transfer,there was notable relevance between the expression of PTEN and the presence of lymph node and distant metastasis(P0.05)Conclusion The expression of PTEN is different in various clincal stage of gastric cancer.The positive rate is lower in the later stage.There's notable relevance between the expression of PTEN and the metastasis of cancer.
