Clinical research of Huoluo Tongbi decoction on the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of Huoluo Tongbi decoction on the treatment of DPN,and to explore its mechanism.Methods Sixty patients were allocated to the treatment group(n=30)and control group(n=30)randomly.The patients of two groups were given conventional treatment.The patients in treatment group were taken Huoluo Tongbi decoction.The patients in control group were treated by intramuscular of vitamin B1 and vitamin B12.The treatment period lasted 8 weeks.The clinical symptoms and the changes in FBG,PBG,HbA1C,IGF-1,lipid,hemorrheology,nerve conduction velocity,etc.were observed.Results The total effective rates of the treatment group was higher than that of the control(P0.05).Treatment group's TC,TG,LDL-C and hemorheology were significantly decreased after the treatment,those changes were better than those in the control group(P0.05 or P0.01).Serum IGF-1 level and nerve conduction velocity in two groups were significantly increased after treatment(P0.01).And the treatment group's increased more significantly,that was better than those of the control group(P0.05 or P0.01).Conclusion Huoluo Tongbi decoction can effectively improve the clinical symptoms in patients with DPN,which improve their blood lipids and blood viscosity.And it can improve the nerve conduction velocity and serum IGF-1 level,which has a better effect in prevention and treatment of DNP.
