Abstract

Starting with Venuti's concepts of foreignization and domestication,the author discusses his translation theory characterized by deconstructing the Anglo-centric hegemony and highlighting the subjectivity of translator,which is his major contribution to contemporary translation studies.Only by considering these two points can we evaluate in an adequate way the significance of Venuti's translation theory in deconstructing Anglo-cultural hegemony and postcolonial cultural critique.
