Abstract

Objective To study the postoperative response and long-term efficacy of Cortisomol and Vitapex paste on chronic periapical periodontitis after one-off root canal filling therapy. Methods Patients who suffered chronic periapical periodontitis and required root canal filling therapy were recruited and randomized into two groups,A and B.107 ill Molars in two groups were filled with either Cortisomol paste or Vitapex paste plus gutta-percha.1-to-7-days and 1-year efficacies of root canal filling therapy in two groups were compared and analyzed. Results The 1-to-7-day postoperative response to root canal filling therapy with Cortisomol paste in group A was clear than that in group B filled with Vitapex paste(P 0.05). 1-year long-term efficacy of root canal filling therapy showed no significant difference between two groups(P 0.05). Conclusions Cortisomol paste showed less postoperative response and better efficacy after one-off root canal filling therapy.
