Abstract

Objective:To compare the therapeutic effects and safety of continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion by insulin pump(CSII) and multiple subcutaneous insulin injection(MSII) in treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus.Methods:Totally,1652 cases of diabetes mellitus were randomly assigned into two groups,CSII group(n=827) and MSII group(n=825).The differences in blood glucose control time, insulin dosage and the rate of hypoglycemic episodes were compared in the two groups. Results:The time for well controlled blood glucose levels in CSII group was significantly shorter than that in MSII group(P0.01),the insulin dosage needed for well controlled blood glucose level in CSII group was obviously less than that in MSII group(P0.05),hypoglycemic episode of CSII group was also lower than that of MSII group(P0.01).Conclusions:CSII could shorten the duration of insulin treatment, lower 2-hour postprandial blood sugar(PBS2) and reduce insulin dosage, and hypoglycemic episodes.
