A Mixture of Daoist and Confucian:On the Splitting of Ji Kang's Personality and Ambition

Awaking from their troubled times,the intellectuals in the Weijin Dynasty succeeded the Confucianism with much confusions,and wanted to seek freedom and purity from the Daoism as well. Therefore there is a severe splitting in their personalities and ambitions,because they hold double spiritual beliefs in both the Confu-cianism and the Daoism. Among the intellectuals in that period of time,Ji Kang ( 224 -263) is one of the important representatives,who has expressed his struggling and helplessness in the social life with a unique writing style and outstanding personality. The splitting of Ji Kang's personality and ambition lies mainly in his conflicts in his attitudes toward life,values,and awareness of life. Such a splitting is painful,and a choice of an intellectual to meet the needs of the historical development as well.
