Abstract
As a new object-relational database management system,oracle 8i combines the spatial data and attribute data effectively and provides R-Tree index and QuadTree index which ensure the rapidness and veracity of the spatial query.Two type of spatial index and a two-tier query model are introduced in this article,then an instance of the PDGIS is related to illustrate the method of realization.Because the PDGIS involves a large number of spatial data,spatial index can improve the efficiency of the query and the establishment of spatial index is of important realistic meaning.
