Abstract

Objective To study the incidence of Helicobacter pylori(Hp) infection and its relationship with peptic ulcer and liver function in patients with hepatitis B cirrhosis. Methods Hp infection was detected and retrospectively analyzed in 110 patients with hepatitis B cirrhosis by 14C-UBT and endoscopy. Results There were no statistically significant differences in gender and age between Hp positive and Hp negative groups(P 0.05).The rates of Hp infection between different severities of esophageal varices and portal hypertension gastropathy had no statistical significance(P 0.05).Hp positive rate in cirrhotic patients was 59.1%(65/110).Hp positive rate in peptic ulcer [73.8%(48/65)] was higher than that in Hp negative group [55.6%(25/45),P﹤0.05].Hp positive rates in patients with Child-Pugh class A,B and C were 54.4%,61.5%,64.0%,respectively,which showed no significant differences by chi-square test(P 0.05).Conclusion The infection rate of Hp has no correlation with cirrhotic esophageal varices and portal hypertensive gastropathy,Hp infection is one of the important factors causing peptic ulcer in cirrhotic patients.
