Abstract

Objective To study the chemical constituents of Hibiscus trionum Linn..Methods The compounds were isolated by chromatography on silica gel,Sephadex LH-20 columns and the recrystallization methods.Chemical properties and NMR data were employed for the structural identification. Results Seven compounds were isolated, their structures were identified as caffeic acid(1),3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid(2),3-methoxyl-4-hydroxybenzoic acid(3),ethyl gallate(4),benzoic acid(5),succinic acid(6),adenosine(7),respectively.Conclusions Compounds 1,3,4,5,7 are obtained from the Hibiscus genus for the first time and 17 are isolated from Hibiscus trionum Linn.for the first time.
