Abstract

Objective To study the chemical constituents from the whole plant of Hibiscus trionum L.Methods The compounds were isolated by chromatography on silica gel,Sephadex LH-20 columns and the recrystallization methods.Chemical properties and NMR were employed for the structural identification. Results Eight compounds were isolated and identified as kaempferol(1),quercetin(2),rutin(3),kaempferol 3-O-(6-O-trans-p-coumaroyl)-β-D-glucopyranoside(4),6-methoxyl-7-hydroxycoumarin(5),6,7-dihydroxycoumarin(6),β-sitosterol(7)and daucosterol(8),respectively.Conclusions Compounds 5 and 6 are obtained from the Hibiscus genus for the first time and 18 are isolated from Hibiscus trionum L.for the first time.
