Abstract

Purpose To explore the expression of TPX2 mRNA in esophageal squamous cell cancer(ESCC) and approch relationship between the TPX2 and clinicopathological characteristic of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Methods The expression of TPX2 in 62 specimens of ESCC,paracancer esophageal, epithelia and distant normal esophageal epithelia was detected by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).The correlations of TPX2 expression to clinicopathologic features were analyzed in 62 cases of ESCCs.Results The positive rate of TPX2 was significantly higher in ESCC than that in paracancer esophageal epithelia(65.5% vs 35.5%).The expression of TPX2 was correlated with the histological grade, invasive depth and lymphatic metastasis in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. There was a significant statistic difference among the groups(P0.01).The expression of TPX2 had no correlations to grade, sex, and age. Conclusion The expression of TPX2 might be related to with the invasive depth and lymphatic metastasis in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
