Abstract
Objective:To investigate the renal protection of Vitamin E on patients with type2diabetes mellitus. Methods:One hundred and forth-six cases type2diabetic patients were studied and di-vided into group A and group B,randomly, and group A were treated with Vitamin E.In addition,accord-ing to the urine albumin excretion(UAER),the patients were subdivided into two groups,A1group or B1group(UAER20μg /min),A2group or B2group(UAER20~200μg /min).The levels of serum crea-tinine,urine creatinine,UAER,HbA1c,triglyceride,cholesterol and Alb /Cr were determined. Results:At the6th month,no change of above indices was observed among4subdivided groups. While at the12th month, the levels of UAER,Alb /Cr,Ccr in group A2were significantly higher than that in group A1(P0.05or P0.01).but UAER,Alb /Cr,Ccr in group A1or A2was significantly lower than that in group B1or B2(P0.05or P0.01).At the level of 12months,HDL-Ch was significantly higher in group A2than that in group B2.Conclusion:A long-term treatment with vitamin E can partially protect renal function of diabetic patients through reducing UAER,Alb /Cr,Ccr.
